I am the founder of My Brother’s Keeper Texas (MBKTX). My work is grounded in decades of professional law enforcement service and a personal commitment to protecting others through preparation, education, and dependable leadership. My journey has shaped how I approach preparation for complex situations, leadership under pressure, and the importance of learning from each event so we are better prepared for what comes next. Today, my goal is to pass that knowledge to others, so they can protect themselves, their co-workers, and the people they are trusted to care for.
I created MBKTX because I believe protecting others is a duty. I have spent my career in a profession that reveals how fear, uncertainty, and poor preparation affect decision-making, and the knowledge and skills I have gained allow me to train and prepare others effectively. The training I provide reflects the same principles that guided my career—integrity, teamwork, excellence, and accountability. My goal is not to create fear, but to equip people with the mindset and skills to make sound decisions in worst-case scenarios.

Something that I follow and hold close to my heart is what Colossians 3:23 tells us, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men."
I have served with the Houston Police Department since November 1997, with experience across patrol operations, tactical units (street crime units), criminal investigations, dignitary protection, and departmental training. Throughout my career, I have worked in high-risk environments where sound judgment, accountability, and decision-making under pressure were essential.
My investigative background includes service as a detective in the Special Investigations Unit, where I conducted complex investigations involving officer-involved shootings, in-custody deaths, and other critical incidents. This work required detailed scene analysis, interviews and interrogations, coordination with district attorneys and forensic experts, and preparation for grand jury and trial proceedings.
I have also served in Tactical Units responsible for dignitary protection, criminal operations, and criminal investigations. In these assignments, I have planned and executed search warrants, led active-attack response planning, conducted surveillance and plainclothes operations, coordinated multi-agency investigations, and assisted in proactive crime reduction efforts.
In addition to operational assignments, I served in the Training Division within both the Defensive Tactics and the Tactical Training Units.
As an instructor, I trained and evaluated cadets and sworn personnel in defensive tactics and tactical situations, use-of-force, physical training, and wellness. I developed and refined lesson plans to address training gaps, improve officer safety, and reduce organizational risk and liability.
I am also a TCOLE-qualified firearms instructor, providing instruction to tactical units, warrant execution teams, gang units, and crime reduction units. My training approach emphasized progressive tactics, sound judgment, and decision-making under stress, supported by ongoing research to ensure instruction remained current, responsible, and effective for a large metropolitan agency.
